"Where there is no vision, the people perish." - Proverbs 29:18

...for few space only related examples. At the moment I the same could be said of just about any area of science or technology development.
Offered with no comment on where we as a country and as a species actually seem to focus our greatest attentions both financial and culturally.
Bah.
But why be annoyed by this?
There can be no nobler priority than to understand our place and role in the Universe that we have been both created with and into.
We do that by learning about and striving to understand our own world. By sharing and caring for planet and its inhabitants, but also by looking out beyond our own immediate horizons.
To do so helps us grasps not only the grandeur of creation and the Creator's vision for it but also imparts a truer sense of humbleness in ourselves alongside an increased appreciation that God would reach out to us given our otherwise cosmic insignificance.
A sad reflection of where our species still places its priorities.
